Roland O'Rotary, The World's First & Only Fundraising Leprechaun, makes another appearance this year as the official mascot of the Jonesboro University Rotary Pot O'Gold fundraising event. Powell Creative's creation made his debut in 2009. After such a warm welcome, the fun character is coming back for the second year.

Pot O'Gold is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Jonesboro Holiday Inn Holidome. The Jonesboro University Rotary Club sells 200 tickets for a chance at winning $10,000 cash pot to be given that evening. Tickets are $175 per ticket including dinner and entertainment. Sponsorships are available including St. Patty's Green Level, End of the Rainbow Gold Level, Shamrock Silver Level, and Lil' Leprechaun Bronze Level. Donations are also accepted for the Live and Silent Auctions. Contact Joe Harbuck at 870-897-5711 for details.

Some of the many projects the Jonesboro University Rotary Club are involved with include Rotary Centennial & Fort Rotary Parks, Chris Carlisle Park, Area Super Seniors Recognition, Pot O'Gold Fundraiser, The Dictionary/Thesaurus Project. Boston Butt Fundraiser, and Hurricane Katrina Relief.

Rotary offers support to Meals on Wheels, Soccer, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Make A Wish, Educational Scholarships, NEA Food Bank, City Youth Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Shelter Box, Heifer International & many, many more...

Rotary International projects include Group Study Exchange, Youth Exchange Programs, Ambassadorial Scholarships, World Peace Programs, Polio Plus Eradication Programs, and International Grants for Needy.

The club meets each Thursday at 7 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Jonesboro.

Melissa Powell is a current board member and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Powell also received the President's Citation for serving as co-chair for the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Expo.
